Train the Trainer

Students should be comfortable speaking in front of an audience and project professionalism, knowledge, and understanding of the material.

Our Train the Trainer course is designed to teach those interested in training our Level 1 and Level 2 courses.

Prerequisites:

  • Completed both Level 1 Awareness and Level 2 Operations courses

  • Meet deployment eligibility for one or both
    levels of operations

  • Have deployment experience or equivalent

Students review both Awareness and Operations course material, with the focus on

  • learning how to present class material material and practicals

  • understand class administration, preparation, and associated logistics

  • awareness and understanding of instructor presentation styles and how they can impact student learning

  • understanding student learning abilities

  • demonstrate presentation through an abbreviated instruction assignment to staff and students

FL SART/Flagler County Level 1 Small Animal Emergency Sheltering Course

Flagler County Small Animal Emergency Sheltering Course

Florida State Animal Response Coalition (FL SARC), in partnerships with Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services & the Florida State Agriculture Response Team (www.FLSART.org), Flagler County Emergency Management and UF/IFAS Extension Office Flagler County, are pleased to offer a Grant Funded Awareness Level 1 Small Animal Disaster and Emergency Sheltering class for all of Flagler and surrounding Counties.

This Awareness Level (Level 1) class will give you the knowledge, expertise and practical experience you need to work in an emergency/evacuation animal shelter.

This course is also required to become a deployment member of FL SARC’s incident response team.

FEMA Approved: This course meets the standards set by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Certified/Accredited by the Florida Department of Emergency Management.

Classes are open to the public but State, County, City employees will be given attendance preference.

Small Animal Disaster and Emergency Sheltering - Level 2 Operations Desoto County

Florida State Animal Response Coalition FL SARC, in partnership with Desoto County Emergency Management & FLSART is pleased to offer our Operations Level 2 - Small Animal Disaster and Emergency Sheltering class for your Desoto, Manatee, Sarasota, Hardee, Polk and surrounding counties.

This Operations Level (Level 2) is a 2-day course that details the leadership roles as well as strategic considerations within emergency animal shelters and their operations. After completing this course, you will be able to plan for and operate a small animal emergency shelter.

Tuesday, May 20, 2025, 9:00 AM - Wednesday, May 21, 2025, 5:00 PM

This is a required course for FL SARC field leadership positions within the incident response team.

Florida State Animal Response Coalition (FL SARC), in partnerships with Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services & the Florida State Agriculture Response Team (www.FLSART.org) and the American Red Cross, are pleased to offer a Grant Funded Awareness Level 1 Small Animal Disaster and Emergency Sheltering class for Gadsden, Liberty, Franklin, Wakulla, Leon, Jefferson, Taylor, Madison, Lafayette, Suwannee, Hamilton and Columbia counties.

This Awareness Level (Level 1) class will give you the knowledge, expertise and practical experience you need to work in an emergency/evacuation animal/pet shelter.

This course is required to become a deployment member of FL SARC’s incident response team.

Level 1 Instructor Led Zoom

Level 1 Instructor Led Zoom Training

Small Animal Emergency Sheltering training course This course Level 1 - Awareness Course Introductory Level of Emergency Management FL -003-RESP

This live, virtual instructor led class teaches the skills and knowledge necessary to volunteer in an emergency or pet-friendly shelter during evacuation of people from their homes. This one-day course is live taught over zoom.

Prerequisites: Age 18 or older (16-18 w/parent or guardian).

It is FEMA approved and certified by the Florida Department of Emergency Management.
